City police looking for help to ID man
City police are seeking help to identify a man suspected of prescription medication fraud.
Police are investigating a man suspected of illegally picking up a prescription intended for a 60-year-old man at Rite Aid.
The department put photographs of the suspect on its Facebook page in hopes the public could identify him.
Police Capt. David Dalcamo said the victim reported he had received a call from the store saying his prescription was ready for pickup. But he later found the pharmacy had given it to a man in his 20s who told them he was picking it up for a friend.
Dalcamo said he does not know how the suspect was able to get the prescription, but said most pharmacies have people answer a security question, often concerning a date of birth, when picking up a prescription for someone else.
The victim was shown the pictures of the suspect, but did not recognize him.
Dalcamo said the city often uses Facebook to seek help whenever the department has exhausted its means.
“We’ve had a lot of success on it,” he said.
Anyone with information on the suspect should call police at 724-287-7743.
