Alexis Allen, 2014 Miss Butler County USA, will compete for the title of 2015 Miss Pennsylvania USA this weekend at Pittsburgh's Hyatt Regency International Airport Hotel.
The 19-year-old daughter of Fred and Nichole Allen of Slippery Rock is a freshman at Butler County Community College. She plans to earn a degree in social work.
Allen is a 2014 graduate of Moniteau High School. She is employed in the dietary department at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Toys for Totsevent slated Thursday
The third annual Toys for Tots event will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Brick House, 118 N. Main St.
To participate, take a new unwrapped toy. The evening will be sponsored by the Chuck Swidzinski team of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, 100 Alameda Plaza.
A Berkshire Hathaway spokesman said last year's event collected 300 toys for children in Butler County.
The Butler County Symphony Association's 25th Holiday Tour of Homes will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at various locations in Butler County.Tickets are on sale at the symphony office, 259 S. MARS — Mars Middle School's spirit and community service committees will have a holiday drive through Tuesday to benefit MHY Family Services.Items for ages 9 to 17 should be new and unwrapped. GROVE CITY — Grace United Methodist Church, 210 S. Broad St., will have its third annual Christmas crèche show from Thursday to Sunday.Hundreds of crèches and an array of Christmas decorations will be on display in the church basement from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The show is free.
