Rodgers 50th anniversary
Carl and Norma Rodgers of Worth Township will celebrate 50 years of marriage June 6 with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. at Highland Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock.
Rodgers married the former Norma Cornelius on June 6, 1959, at the Wolf Creek Church.
The couple owned and operated a dairy farm from 1959 until 1982, when they began grain farming. From 1971 to 1973, they worked second jobs at Emlenton Limestone: Norma as a weight master and Carl as a highlift operator. When the plant closed in 1973, Carl began working for Coopers Brothers. He retired in 2006 from R.W. Sidley.
Norma also is retired. She enjoys taking care of the couple's home and playing the organ.
They enjoy square dancing and traveling. They are former members of the Easy Squares and Keystone Squares. They have traveled to all 50 states as well as to Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas.
They belong to the Highland Presbyterian Church, where Carl has served as an elder.
