Butler senior point guard Ethan Morton has been named Pennsylvania Boys Basketball Player of the Year by the Pennsylvania Sports Writers Association.

Morton is the first Butler player to ever win this award.

He averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds per game this year and scored 2,198 points in his prep career.

Morton also became the first Class 6A boys basketball player to make first team all- state three successive years.

Ethan Morton, Pennsylvania's reigning Gatorade Player of the Year, added the Class 6A POY honors Saturday with the release of the all-star team.

Morton, signed with Purdue, helped Butler reach its first district title in nearly 30 years before the COVID-19 pandemic halted the team's run for the state title in March.
