Knights knock off Rams

Joe Arndt's two–run single in the bottom of the sixth inning helped the Knoch baseball team pull out an 8-7 victory over Pine-Richland Wednesday.

Bob Kruth had a bases-clearing double to highlight a five-run second inning for the Knights and to finish the season with a 10-9 overall record.

In an 8-2 victory over West Mifflin Tuesday, Todd Kennedy had a double, two singles and three RBI.

In other action:

Derek Carmichael homered twice and drove in five runs to help power Union to a 14-6 victory over A-C Valley.

Nathan Kurtz homered and pitched four innings to pick up the win as Freeport ended its season with a 6-4 victory over Ford City.

Jesse Alfreno drove in three runs with two doubles as Grove City clinched a District 10 playoff spot with a 12-3 thrashing of Mercer.

Joe Ennis picked up the win for the Eagles (13-3, 12-2).

Reynolds might have dealt a deathblow to Slippery Rock's playoff hopes with a 15-11 victory in a slugfest.

The Rockets are now 6-8 in the MCAC.
