Man arrested for owing $311,715 in child support

ADAMS TWP — A township man was arrested Thursday for owing $311,715 in back child support, the largest amount owed in the history of the Allegheny County Sheriff’s office.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Michael E. Connor, 55, on a bench warrant from the Family Division of Allegheny. The warrant was issued Wednesday after Connor failed to respond to matters related to child support.

Deputies learned Thursday morning that Connor was staying at the Northglen Terrace apartment complex. He was arrested there and taken to the Allegheny County Family Division Complex, where he will await a court appearance.

Township police assisted deputies at the scene.

“Connor’s arrest marks the most significant amount of child support arrearages by one domestic relations warrant in sheriff’s office history,” said Sheriff William Mullen in a statement.
