Joan V. Thompson

Joan V. Thompson, 84, of Butler passed away at 11:04 a.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 1, 1932, in Pittsburgh to the late Domonic Aiello and Violet Storf Aiello Dowling.

A Catholic, Joan was a homemaker. Joan enjoyed reading, bingo and going to the casinos. She lived her life the way she wanted to. Joan especially loved spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by four sons, Scott Thompson and his wife, Dottie, of Cranberry Township, Brian Thompson and his fiancée, Yvonne Slawson, of Modesto, Calif., Dale Thompson and his wife, Sandy, of Medford, Ore., and Alan Thompson and his wife, Teri, of McKeesport; two daughters, Donna Spinhirne and her husband, James, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Charisse Bunyan and her husband, Leroy, of Renfrew; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Donald E. Thompson, who she married Oct. 21, 1951, and who died Jan. 10, 2015.

THOMPSON — Friends of Joan V. Thompson, who died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.

A blessing service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Nick Argentieri of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Yellow Ribbon Girls, 1328 Woodside Ave., Ellwood City, PA 16117, or to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater PA, Pittsburgh Office, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
