Cranberry man sentenced
PITTSBURGH — A Cranberry Township man was sentenced Thursday in federal court to three years probation and restitution of $13,496 on his conviction of embezzlement from a labor union.
Duane Rill stole the money when he was the secretary-treasurer of the Berry Metal Employees’ Association by writing and cashing unauthorized union checks and making unauthorized cash withdraws from March 2007 to November 2009, according to U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton.
Rill’s sentence includes six months of home confinement.
