The Butler County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 107 recently held a raffle to benefit the family of Don Minto, who has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently in the hospital undergoing treatment.
The raffle raised over $2,500 for the family.
The winner of the raffle was
Mike Deal, who works at the Juvenile Probation Dept. He has donated the money back to the Minto Family.

The Evans City Senior Center recently held a quilt and rocking chair raffle to raise funds for the center.
The winner of the quilt was Sue Stephenson and the rocking chair winner was Robin Schmitt. Both are from Portersville.

During a recent ceremony held in Pittsburgh, Ruby Reinhart
of Butler was honored by the national Celebration Recovery Program, which honors individuals recovering from mental illness.
Reinhart was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar disorder 25 years ago and spent years in and out of psychiatric hospitals.
Today she volunteers her time at the Grapevine Drop-In Center, serving on several committees and the board of directors. She enjoys writing and performing country music.
An award was also presented to
Joan Gill, the president of the Butler County Chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
Gill, whose two sons were diagnosed with schizophrenia after serving in Vietnam, was honored for her work on behalf of mental health consumers.
She is a volunteer at the Grapevine Drop-In Center and has taught the alliance's Family to Family class five times.

Mae Wise of Evans City was the winner of the quilt raffled off by the Evans City Library.
Drawing of the winning ticket was delayed until Sep. 25 because of the flooding which caused the cancellation of Oktoberfest in the borough.
