Larry J. Peth, 60, of Butler went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday morning.

He was born Aug. 21, 1949, son of the late Robert and Erla McCandless Peth.

Larry worked as a self-employed contractor. He also was a former teacher at the Butler County Vo-Tech, where he sat on the advisory board.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, friend and mentor. He also preached at nearby churches in need of a preacher and volunteered in the Prison Ministry at the Mercer State Correctional Institution.

His hobbies included woodworking, hunting and trapshooting. He was a member of Evans City Rod and Gun Club.

He is survived by the love of his life, Beverly J. Ebel Peth, whom he married Aug. 9, 1974; one son, Kevin J. Peth and his wife, Dixie, of Butler; two daughters, Jennifer J. Hoffman and her husband, Kevin, and Evonne G. Patterson and her husband, Karl, both of Butler; two brothers, Ronald Peth and his wife, Elaine, and Walter Peth and his wife, Frances, both of Renfrew; two sisters, Linda Hopper of Boyers and Sherry Pennington and her husband, Ralph, of Renfrew; and three grandchildren, Allyssa and Elizabeth Patterson and Garrett Hoffman, all of Butler.

<B>PETH </B>— There will be no visitation for Larry J. Peth, who died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009. A praise and worship celebration for Larry's life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., Butler, with the Rev. Dave Maitland, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Burial Estates.Donations, in memory of Larry, are requested to be sent to Pressing on Ministries, P.O. Box 36, Renfrew, PA 16053; or to First Baptist Church, 221 W.
