RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

The Men's Quartet will provide music for the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68. In honor of Mother's Day, flowers will be given to all women attending the service.

The Pittsburgh District Secretary's Day for distribution of pastors' annual reports will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the Mount Chestnut Nazarene Center, 177 North Road.

Church board meetings have been rescheduled for May 17.

CENTER U.M.

Center United Methodist Church, 1575 Donnellville Road, Fawn Township, will its their annual ladies tea at 1 p.m. May 21. Participants should take a baby shower gift for a mission project. Call 724-226-2300 for reservations.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will celebrate Mother's Day with the annual observance of Blanket Sunday. Blankets purchased to honor or memorialize women will be dedicated during weekend worship services. The blankets are distributed through Church World Service during disasters.

Blood pressure screenings will be available following all weekend worship services.

From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, members of the 2005 Confirmation Class will hold their annual field trip to the United Methodist Church Conference Center in Cranberry Township. The group will meet with Bishop Tom Bickerton, tour the center and visit several churches in the Pittsburgh area.

Children, youth and adults planning to attend summer church camps should pick up camping brochures or register online for available dates and camping locations.

Ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise are being collected for the Covenant Food Cupboard during May.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

Beth Yost and the Men's Chorus will provide music for the Sunday service at Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave.

The church youth will host a luncheon after the morning service on May 15. Cost is a donation and registration is now available. For a donation, pairs of youth group members will also visit homes to help with house cleaning, baby-sitting, yard work and other tasks. Registration for this service will be held at the luncheon.

Volunteers are needed to help with PraiseFest '05. A meeting will be held at 5 p.m. May 15 for interested participants.

Choir practice will resume at 6 p.m. May 15.

COVENANT PRESBY

The annual Festival Youth Service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. The children and youth of the congregation will lead the service. In honor of Mother's Day, all women in the congregation will be presented with carnations.

Christopher Walchesky will be the guest organist for the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

Marie Baird, associate professor of theology at Duquesne University, will lead the Seekers Class at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Assembly Room.

Handmade Russian crafts made by the women of the Good News Baptist Church of Venyov, Russia, are now on display in the Assembly Room and are available for a $20 donation to Venyov Church. A silent auction is being held for the largest item, a handmade lap blanket.

The Covenant Cupboard Food Bank is requesting donations of tuna or noodles for the month of May. Baskets to receive the donations are in the front hallway of the Jefferson Street entrance.

FAITH FELLOWSHIP

There will be no evening service Sunday at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faithway-Fared Drive.

FAITH U.P.

New members will be received at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St. In honor of Mother's Day, carnations will also be distributed to women at the service.

FIRST BAPTIST

First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will sponsor a clay pigeon shoot from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Castlewood Rod and Gun Club, New Castle. The $35 entry fee will cover 100 rounds on the clay course plus a luncheon and a devotional by the Rev. Mark Thomas, pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Freeport. Women members of the Kingdom Seekers Sunday school class will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Baptist Youth Center for craft night activities.

FIRST U.M.

Communion will be served at the Saturday evening services at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St.

A Mother's Day breakfast will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday in Epworth Center.

A Digging Deeper youth study will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Cross and Flame Room.

Vacation Bible school training will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Wesley Hall.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

Anyone interested in helping with Bible school at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., tentatively scheduled for July 11 to 15, should contact Marj Rogner.

The Parish Care Ministry is planning a CPR program for May 21.

GLADE RUN U.P.

During the Sunday services at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, the Presbyterian Women will collect the Birthday Offering, which is used in missions throughout the world for the needs of women and children.

The names of members/friends who are graduating from high school, college or any other institution of higher learning are being gathered for recognition.

The session and the deacons will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The youth group will continue to meet on Wednesdays after school. The middle school will meet from 3 to 5 p.m.; and the senior high will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

A scrapbooking day will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday in the social hall at Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St. Participants should take a lunch.

The Faith Shapers group will meet at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church for a picnic at Moraine State Park. Participants can be picked up at the church at 5:30 p.m. All members should take a beverage or snack to share. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided.

HARVEST ASSEMBLY

Paul Allen will be the guest speaker at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Harvest Assembly of God, 160 Brownsdale Road, Penn Township.

HILL U.P.

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated during the weekend services at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St.

The children's vocal and handbell choirs will perform at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.

The May session meeting has been rescheduled for 6:45 p.m. Wednesday. The confirmation class will be received during the meeting.

A "Dinner and a Movie" night will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. May 14. The event will include a pancake and sausage dinner. Cost is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for children ages 6 to 10 and free for children age 5 and younger.

Boxed cereal is being collected for the Covenant Food Cupboard during May.

MERIDIAN U.P.

At the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., carnations will be passed out to all the women of the congregation. There also will be special music.

MT. CHESTNUT PRESBY

Mothers will be honored at the 8:45 and 11 a.m. Sunday services at Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old West 422.

The annual Mother-Daughter Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Fellowship Hall. The men of the church will prepare the meal. For information, contact the church office.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

A time of prayer and dedication for mothers will be held during the 10 a.m. Sunday service at New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg.

NORTH MAIN STREET CHURCH OF GOD

The service of Parent and Infant Dedication will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext.

Volunteers are needed to help clean the church kitchen from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday. To participate, call the church office at 724-285-4214.

The handbell choir will not meet again until the fall.

OLD UNION PRESBY

Due to Mother's Day, there will not be a fellowship dinner this week at Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars.

On Saturday, the youth group will spend the morning helping Westminster Highlands get ready for the summer and the afternoon canoeing on the Allegheny River. Cost is $5. This event is open to students in grades 6 through 12 and to any adults who would like to lend a hand. Please contact Peter by Tuesday if you'd like to go.

Tickets are available for "Camp W," a heartfelt comedy about a church camp, will be presented at 7 p.m. May 20 and 21 and at 2 and 7 p.m. May 22. Cost is $7 per ticket.

Sign up now in the back of the church if you are interested in a father-son banquet in June.

RIDER LUTHERAN

All youth and interested members of Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Unionville Fire Hall to plant shrubs for Join Hands Day. Lunch will be provided.

Sunday will be the last Sunday school class until September. Members of the confirmation class will take their final test after the 10 a.m. worship service and practice will follow.

ST. JOHN U.C.C.

Members of St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City, will meet for a cleanup day at 10 a.m. Saturday at Evans City Community Park.

May 17 will be the last day for Neighborhood Academy food preparation. Volunteers are needed for food acquisition, cooking and delivery on this date.

ST. MARY R.C.

Holy Day Masses at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Our Lady of Guadalupe, 101 W. High St., Kittanning, will be as follows:

Mass for the feast of the "Ascension of Our Lord into heaven," at 7 p.m. today.

First Friday of the Month and the Sacred Heart Devotions, 7 p.m. Friday.

ST. PETER'S EPISCOPAL

George Armstrong, organist of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St., is looking for soloists, duets or ensembles to provide music for the offertory anthem during the summer.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive.

Orders for red geraniums in honor or memory of loved ones are due this Sunday.

A children's hour program will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the sanctuary.

Donations of spaghetti and spaghetti sauce are being collected for the Community Food Bank during May.

TRINITY PRESBY

Mothers will be honored at the Sunday morning service at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave. The Children and Youth Choir will perform in observance of Christian Family Week.

A service will be held at 7 p.m. today in observance of the National Day of Prayer.

Sunday school teachers will be recognized during the Sunday service.

VICTORY CHRISTIAN

Revolution Student Ministries will present a Hi-Rev service at 6:30 p.m. May 15 at Victory Christian Fellow, 216 Mystic Pine Trail, Cranberry Township. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
