Russin

Anna Russin, 93, of Lyndora died early Friday morning at her home, following a short illness, surrounded by her family.

Born April 23, 1916, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Bachensky) Walek.

She was a 1935 graduate of Butler High School, a homemaker, and formerly had worked as a waitress for the Nixon Hotel and carried mail at Pullman Standard Car Co. during World War II.

Anna was a member of St. John the Byzantine Catholic Church, where she also was in the Ladies' Guild.

She had enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and was a baseball, football, and boxing fan.

Surviving are a son, Nicholas F. Russin and his wife, Francie Lipp-Russin, of Kalispell, Mont.; a daughter, Mary Ann Schryvers and her husband, Clifford, of Lyndora; two brothers, Joseph and George Walek, both of Butler; a sister, Julia Stone; two grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Russin, who she married May 10, 1942, and who died July 21, 1997; and her brother, Michael Walek.

<B>Russin </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Anna Russin, who died Friday, July 3, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. Abbot Leo Schlosser, pastor, will officiate.
