Durci

Carolyn M. (Aiken) Anthony Durci, 90, of Butler died Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

One of nine siblings, she was born Jan. 11, 1921, in Greenville to the late Carl E. Aiken and Mary (Black) Aiken.

She was married to John A. Anthony from June 3, 1940, until his death in 1971. They had six children. She also was married to Andrew Durci from 1981 until his death in 1997.

Carolyn was one of the early students in Butler County Community College's nursing program and worked as an licensed practical nurse at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, now the VA Butler Healthcare, until her retirement.

Surviving are her children, Joann (John) Schnur of Herman, Sandra Miller Durci of Butler, Donald (Karen) Anthony of Butler, Ronald Anthony of Butler, Hughston (Jessie) Anthony of Chicora and Richard Anthony of Butler. She also is survived by 16 grandchildren, 29 great-children and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Paul R. Aiken of Boynton Beach, Fla.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

<B>DURCI</B> — Friends of Carolyn M. (Aiken) Anthony Durci, who died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
