12:19 a.m. Sunday - A 46-year-old Butler woman is accused of assaulting a city police officer after she was picked up on a warrant.Police were called to West Brady and Broad streets after a caller reported a man and woman fighting. Officers found Dawn Dushek, who was wanted for failing to appear in court in connection with an arrest for driving under the influence.Dushek was taken to the station, where she allegedly struck officer David Adam in the chest and neck. She also allegedly spit at the officer and, while in the holding cell, urinated on the floor on three occasions. Adam was not injured in the assault.She is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and criminal mischief, and remains in the Butler County Prison.5:30 p.m. Saturday - Cars driven by Daniel Dettore, 47, of Center Township and Patricia Foringer, 57, of Butler collided at East Pearl and North McKean streets.4:45 p.m. Saturday - Cars driven by Richard Cox, 53, of Renfrew and Margaret Yon, 57, of Butler collided at Glenn and Center avenues.4:30 p.m. Saturday - Cars driven by Amanda Dittmer, 18, of Butler Township and David Montgomery, 50, of Butler collided on Roosevelt Boulevard.10:43 a.m. Wednesday - A pickup truck driven by Richard Baird Jr., 21, of West Sunbury and a car driven by Joyce Sheakley, 45, of Oakland Township collided at Hansen Avenue and Pillow Street.Sheakley and a passenger in her car, Megan Sheakley, 18, of Oakland Township were taken with minor injuries to Butler Memorial Hospital. Both were wearing seat belts. Police said Baird was cited for failing to stop at a red light.
Saturday - Police issued an advisory to residents to be on the alert for get-rich-quick scams.Police said they have recently received several complaints of attempted fraud over the telephone in which callers claim would-be victims have won thousands of dollars. The callers ask that a small amount of money to cover taxes and transaction fees be sent to a location outside the United States.
1:23 a.m. today - Police said John Shuler, 43, of Butler was trying to elude troopers when he crashed his motorcycle on St. Joe Road in Oakland Township.Shuler was allegedly speeding and crossed the centerline on nearby Route 68 when police attempted to stop his motorcycle. Shuler, who was wearing a helmet, suffered minor injuries. Police did not know if a passenger on the cycle, Joshua Shuler, 19, of Butler, was injured; he also was wearing a helmet.Police said charges against the elder Shuler are pending the results of blood-alcohol tests.5 a.m. Sunday - A vehicle driven by Fred Sankey, no age given, of Slippery Rock struck a utility pole along Branchton Road in Slippery Rock Township.1:30 a.m. Sunday - A 13-year-old girl was injured when she crashed a car she was driving on Division Road in Allegheny Township.Police said the girl took her grandmother's 2000 Toyota Camry without the St. Petersburg, Clarion County, woman's permission. The car struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof.The girl, who police did not identify, suffered minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt. Three passengers in the car, a 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, were not injured. Police said the boys were wearing seat belts; the 14-year-old girl was not.1:15 a.m. Sunday - A pickup truck driven by David Semler, 39, of New Kensington, Westmoreland County, struck a traffic light pole at Route 356 and Marwood Road in Jefferson Township.Sunday - A black purse was taken between 4 and 5 p.m. from a car at the Brook Court parking lot in Center Township. Kristen Hageman of Butler owns the purse.11:57 p.m. Saturday - Ray Heginbotham Jr., 35, of East Brady, Clarion County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 1004 in Washington Township. Police said Heginbotham, after being stopped, resisted arrest. He was arraigned on DUI and resisting arrest charges, and placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bond.4:45 p.m. Saturday - A mini-van driven by Juanita Arblaster, 51, of Slippery Rock Township traveled off Route 8 and Muddy Creek Drive in Brady Township, struck an embankment and rolled onto its side.Arblaster, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Two passengers in the van, Austin Streets, 7, of Slippery Rock and Mason Carson, 7, of Mercer, also suffered minor injuries. Both boys were in child safety seats. All the injured were treated at undisclosed hospitals and released. Arblaster was cited for driving too fast for conditions.4 a.m. Saturday - Someone broke into a barn on Jamison Road in Venango Township. The unknown burglar drove off in an unidentified small pickup truck. It was not immediately known if any property was taken. Patrick Kubeja of Stoneboro, Mercer County, owns the barn.2:30 a.m. Saturday - Karl Schmidt, 44, of Saxonburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his sport utility vehicle collided with a pickup truck at Route 356 and Great Belt Road in Jefferson Township.Police said both Schmidt and Kristopher Bookhamer, 27, of Pittsburgh, who was driving the pickup, fled the crash site, leaving their vehicles behind. Schmidt was later found and arrested for suspicion of DUI. Police said the investigation continues.Saturday - An air conditioner valued at $80 was taken from a mobile home in a burglary at the Five Oaks Trailer Park in Washington Township. The break-in occurred between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday. Jeremy Chambers of Hilliards owns the stolen property.2:21 a.m. Friday - Donald Oaks, 45, of Erie was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 8 in Center Township.9:30 p.m. Aug. 7 - A van driven by Colleen Habbyshaw, 37, of Slippery Rock and a pickup truck driven by Robert Azzarella, 45, of Harrisville collided at Route 8 and Benbrook Road in Center Township.Habbyshaw and Eugene Habbyshaw, 45, of Slippery Rock, a passenger in the van, suffered undisclosed injuries; both were wearing seat belts. Tyler Habbyshaw, 2, also riding in the van in a child safety seat, suffered undisclosed injuries.Additionally, Sierra Azzarella, 3, of Harrisville, a passenger in the pickup, secured in a child safety seat, suffered undisclosed injuries. Police said Colleen Habbyshaw was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
11 a.m. Sunday - Cars driven by Joseph Hull, 49, of Cyclone, McKean County, and William Travis, 68, of Grove City collided at Routes 208 and 258 in Springfield Township, Mercer County.Travis and a passenger in Hull's car, Theresa Hull, 44, of Cyclone, suffered minor injuries. Theresa Hull, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated at United Community Hospital in Grove City and released. Police did not immediately know if Travis was wearing a seat belt.11:10 a.m. Saturday - A car driven by Gale Thomas, 81, of Hermitage crashed after striking the median on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County.2:10 a.m. Saturday - Rodney Mumford, 37, of Grove City was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 208 at Prime Outlets in Springfield Township, Mercer County.4:35 p.m. Aug. 11 - A motor home driven by Timothy Sandusky, no age given, of Beaver, Beaver County, struck the rear of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 80 in Pine Township. Mercer County. Sandusky's son, who police only identified as a juvenile, suffered minor injuries.Mryon Heimbach, no age given, of Yeagertown, Mifflin County, was driving the tractor-trailer.
