Monday - Brandi Morrison, 20, of 437 W. North St., Apt. 2, was arrested for allegedly stealing a bottle of Lorcet pain medication Saturday night from her grandmother's Center Avenue home. Morrison is charged with theft, receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
3:44 a.m. Thursday - John Beatty Jr., 22, of Butler was arrested for allegedly using a stolen cellular telephone and later destroying the phone. Beatty is charged with receiving stolen property.
Thursday - Police charged four juveniles in drug-related incidents under investigation since December 2003. No other information was provided.Thursday - Sandy Cogswell, 40, of Mercer was charged with writing a bad check for $100 in June to S&S Beer Distributor on North Street.Aug. 10 - A March 2005 inspection sticker was removed from a car parked in the 800 block of Stewart Avenue. Jennifer Dixon, no address given, owns the car.Aug. 7 - A 26-inch, green Schwinn bicycle was stolen between Aug. 5 and 7 from the 600 block of Spring Street. The time of the report. The bike is valued at $300.Aug. 7 - Police received reports that a teal and silver truck-tractor knocked over a light pole on the Grove City College campus on East Main Street and did not stop following the crash.Aug. 6 - Burglars entered a residence on the 400 block of Bessemer Avenue and destroyed numerous items in the house.Aug. 5 - A resident in the 200 block of Edgewood Avenue reported finding a bullet hole in a rear wall of the home. Police said it appeared the bullet came from a wooded area behind the residence.Aug. 4 - Jodi Shaffer, 34, of Mercer was arrested on a warrant at the Mercer County Jail and arraigned on 14 counts of theft by deception and 14 counts of bad checks. The charges stem from bad checks written to BiLo market in May.Shaffer was returned to Mercer County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond. A preliminary hearing has been set for next week.Aug. 3 - Someone spray-painted graffiti on two trees and a house in the 300 block of Gilmore Avenue. Two garages were also sprayed in the alley between Gilmore and Spruce streets.
6:32 p.m. Monday - James Kniess, 60, of Butler lost control of his sport utility vehicle after suffering an apparent diabetic shock and collided with a pickup truck driven by Edward Finney III, 63, of Pittsburgh on Unionville Road in Franklin Township.Unionville and Prospect volunteer firefighters were called and used rescue saws to free Kniess, who was wearing a seat belt, from the wreckage of his Jeep Cherokee. He was taken with unknown injuries to Butler Memorial Hospital and later flown by medical helicopter to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.8:41 p.m. Sunday - Russell Kastelic, 36, of Butler was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was driving crashed on Fairview Road in Fairview Township. Kastelic was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and later flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.July 19 - Stephanie Covert of Oakland Township said someone used her credit card number between July 16 and 19 to illegally buy undisclosed merchandise from a television home shopping network.July 15 - A two-month-old Chihuahua puppy was taken between July 13 and 15 from the Cherry Road home of Katherine Hilliard in Fairview Township.
1:30 a.m. Sunday - David Maitland reported that a pickup truck was stolen from his Dogwood Lane home in Pine Township, Mercer County. The pickup, valued at $2,000, was later found burned on North Liberty Road in the township.Wednesday - An unknown thief between Aug. 6 and Wednesday broke out a car window and took a stereo and numerous compact discs from the vehicle parked on Route 173 in Worth Township, Mercer County. April Frey of Volant owns the stolen property.
