Harmar woman dies in apartment fireHARMAR TWP — Authorities have identified the woman killed in an apartment fire over the weekend.The Allegheny County medical examiner said Carol Alese, 52, died in the blaze Sunday in Harmar Township.Chief Kevin Funkhouser of the Allegheny Valley Fire Department said crews found smoke coming from a second-story unit just before noon. He said the victim was found on the second floor.The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

2 shot to death in housing projectPITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police said two men were fatally shot at city housing project where an automatic alert system summoned officers.Police spokesman Sonya Toler said the alert brought police to the Homewood North projects early today, just minutes after midnight. Police haven’t released the names of the victims, who were found in a hallway.
