CONNOQUENESSING TWP — During the development of its Kyne pad on Dick Road, XTO Energy removed hundreds of trees, but it partnered with more than a dozen communities and organizations to replant them in Butler County.

XTO replanted more than 300 trees, including donations to Alameda Park, the Butler County Community Development Corporation, the Butler-Freeport Trail and several townships and communities, according to a company news release.

Gary Pinkerton, director of Butler County Parks and Recreation, said the trees helped out the county.

“Butler County received a DCNR grant to build restroom facilities at Alameda Park and Clay Township Park,” said Pinkerton in the release. “As part of the grant, we needed to plant additional trees near the facilities. Thanks to XTO’s donation, and the hard work of the volunteers from the Butler Lions Club to plant the trees, we are able to provide something that was needed in the county and at a cost savings to Butler County taxpayers.”

Penn Township planted several trees in Harcrest Community Park.

Jefferson Township’s recreation committee also planted donated trees in the Laura J. Doerr Memorial Park in Jefferson Township.
