Annual Day of Giving nears

Foundation matches funds

Residents will have the ability to help numerous nonprofits in Butler County on May 5 during the Pittsburgh Foundation’s annual Day of Giving.

The foundation on that day will use a $10,000 pool to match donations to more than 30 nonprofit organizations in the county.

To donate, visit www.pittsburghgives.org between 8 a.m. and midnight. Choose the organization you’d like to support, enter the amount you’d like to give, and click submit. All eligible donations will be partially matched from the county’s match pool.

“It’s important to get the community involved,” said Kierston Hobaugh, executive director of the United Way of Butler County. “In general, (the day) is a benefit to all nonprofits involved because it’s another way to get our message out, and it’s another way to fund raise.”

The United Way is one of the nonprofits participating in the event.

Last year the Day of Giving raised more than $73,000 in donations for nonprofits in the county, including $18,000 from the foundation.

The minimum Day of Giving gift per organization is $25. The match of individual donations will be capped at $1,000 per organization.

Only gifts up to $1,000 will be counted toward the match pool.

These corporations have donated to the match pool: XTO Energy, NexTier Bank, Snyder Group of Companies, and IQC.

These nonprofits are participating:
