Richard J. "Pete" McClaine, 58, of Butler died Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born March 22, 1949, in Butler, he was the son of Richard and Evelyn Callihan McClaine, Sr.

Mr.McClaine worked at the Armco/A-K Steel plant in Butler in the hot mill for 34 years until his retirement in January 2002.

He was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian.

He was an avid Steelers fan, enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved his grandchildren and supported them in all their activities.

He is survived by his parents of Butler; his wife, Clarissa "Cris" Downing McClaine, whom he married Dec. 3, 1966; two daughters, Lisa Blum and her husband, Joel, of Butler, and Tina Slupe and her husband, Shawn, of Butler; a son, Kevin L. McClaine and his wife, Gina, of Chicora; six grandchildren, Cody, Kylie, and Lexi Blum, and Bekk, Liam, and Emmet McClaine; two sisters, Mary Kay Werth, and her husband, John, of Amherst, Ohio, and Connie Sawford and her husband, Brian, of Butler; a brother, Donald McClaine and his wife, Kathy, of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, P.J. McClaine, who died Sept. 7, 1979.

<B>McClaine</B> — Friends of Richard J. "Pete" McClaine Jr., who died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today at the <B>Giebel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E.Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St.Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 ButtercupRd., Meridian. The Rev. James Murphy will officiate. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery.The bereavement committee of St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home for a parish vigil service.For information visit www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
