Robert M. Pacelli, 46, of Butler faces several drug charged after leading city police on car chase Monday evening.

He is charged with possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to use, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving and counterfeit substance by an unauthorized person.

Pacelli was driving about 6:30 p.m. Monday on West Penn Street when a police officer passed him and his green Buick appeared to have no inspection sticker on it. When the officer did a U-turn to follow him, he fled in his car.

Police said he ran through a stop sign, turned on to North Washington Street, into the YMCA lot at unsafe speeds with pedestrians around, turned on to North Jackson Street, and stopped near West Penn Street.

Then the officer was able to confront him.

Pacelli’s car did have an inspection sticker, but it was on a separate/cut piece of glass, not on the windshield as required. Since Pacelli’s license was suspended, the car was towed.

In the car, police said they found five bundles of suspected heroin, a glass pipe with suspected burnt cocaine residue, a container with four pills — one Alprazolam, one Oxymorphone Hydrochloride, and the other two unknown, a digital scale, a cell phone, and a tablet with names and numbers of several known drug dealers.

A total of $311 was found on Pacelli. He told police he is unemployed.
