Christina M. Ligas
Christina M. Ligas, 66, of East Brewster Road in Butler died Saturday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born in New Castle, May 1, 1942, a daughter of the late Frank and Stella DeRicco Natale.
She lived in New Castle until the age of 23 when she moved to Butler.
Christina was a homemaker, mother and grandmother, and she was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
She had worked as a bookkeeper for Heckett Engineering and Critchlow Insurance Agency in Butler and had also worked as a gift consultant for J.C. Penney.
She was active in politics and was the president of the Butler County Democratic Women's Club. She was a delegate for the state of Pennsylvania for Bill Clinton and the campaign manager for a Butler Township district judge.
Her hobbies included home interior decorating and wedding planning, and she was the first Butler County Fair homemaker queen. She also loved traveling with her family.
Her husband, Lawrence W. Ligas, who she married July 21, 1978, survives her. Also surviving are her children and their spouses, Terri Lynn and Carlos Morales of Lorain, Ohio, Ms. Rhonda Micco of Elyria, Ohio, Arthur Lawrence and Susan Micco of Mount Jackson, Pa., and Kellie Rae and Thomas Twardowski of Emmaus, Pa.; three brothers, Joey and Loui Natale of Burtonsville, Md., and Frankie Natale of Pittsburgh; and a sister, Mrs. Frances Mohar of Pembroke Pines, Fla. Six grandsons, three great-grandsons, and several nieces and nephews also survive her.
<B>LIGAS </B>— Friends of Christina M. Ligas, who died Saturday, March 28, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
