Durand 50th anniversary
Andy and Bernice Durand of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with a surprise party given by their children.
The former Bernice Meso married Durand Sept. 14, 1957, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Natrona.
They have four children, Denise Mikolay of Brunswick, Ohio; Bud Durand of Butler; and Karen Woodard and Kelly Goettler, both of Cabot.
They also have seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, a great-grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren.
Durand is retired from Westinghouse, where he worked as an electrician for 36 years. He belongs to Masonic Lodge 239 F&AM, where he served as a master in 1977; New Castle Consistory; and American Legion Post 683. He enjoys hunting and fishing.
Mrs. Durand worked as a licensed practical nurse at Saxony Health Care. She is a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman, where she is active in the Christian Mothers and Women's Group. She is also a member of Saxonburg Women's Club, Women's Club of Butler County, Order of the Eastern Star chapter 179 and American Legion Auxiliary Post 683. She enjoys bowling and bingo.
The Durands also enjoy volunteer work.
