Knoch boys shut out Yellowjackets, 3-0
Scott Herman, Buddy Carr and C.J. Wise each scored goals for the Knoch boys soccer team in a 3-0 win over Freeport Thursday night.
The victory wrapped up a playoff berth for the Knights (10-6 overall, 9-4 in the section).
Freeport fell to 12-5, 8-5.
Karns City 3, Brookville 1 — Nick LoPresti scored two goals and Chris Harmon added another as the Gremlins (13-2) downed the Raiders.
Grove City 10, Sharpsville 0 — Nico Hutchinson scored three goals and Jordan Nichols added two more in the Eagles' rout.Brad Graham, Luke Pattison, Sean Barr, Erwin Menacho and Nick Arnold also scored goals for Grove City (9-2-2).Justin Gildersleeve and Drew Clausen combined for the shutout in goal.GolfGrove City HighSchool senior Cameron Peterson shot a 1-over-par 72 to lead a field of 98 golfers at the Franklin Invitational Thursday afternoon.Peterson helped the Eagles to a second-place finish in the tournament, one stroke behind winner Erie Strong Vincent, at Venango Country Club.Jeff Tracy of Slippery Rock shot a 75 to place second overall. North Allegheny 3, Seneca Valley 2 — The Raiders fell in a marathon match after taking the first two games, 25-22, 25-18, 24-26, 21-25, 6-15.Lauren Balmert had 47 assists and Justine Carrow had 17 kills for Seneca Valley (7-6, 6-4).Jen Boyd and Meghan Franz each pitched in 10 kills, and M.J. Gillooly added seven digs for the Raiders.
Knoch 3, Ambridge 2 — Zoe Hughes had 17 kills and 19 points as the Knights outlasted Ambridge 25-15, 22-25, 25-19, 23-25, 15-3.Kirsten Brant added 12 kills, nine points and 15 assists, and Renee Crimbchin added 21 points for Knoch (13-1, 9-1).
Mars 3, Quaker Valley 0 — The Planets (11-4, 10-1) earned a 25-13, 25-15, 25-16 win.
Karns City 3, A-CValley 0 — Laura Isaaco had 19 points and 20 assists as the Gremlins (3-5) earned a 25-13, 25-9, 25-15 win.Haley Callihan added 18 points and seven kills, and Courtney Slagle had 14 points and eight kills for Karns City.The Falcons fell to 1-7.Karns City also won the junior varsity match, 25-13, 25-12. The Gremlins' JV team is now 8-0.
