Teen pageant to award 2 titles

8 youth to compete

For the past two years, teen girls in Butler County have competed for the title of Teen Miss Butler County.

Although a teen pageant will be held again this year, entrants will compete for the titles of Miss Butler County Outstanding Teen/America and Miss Moraine State Outstanding Teen/America.

Winners will receive a cash award plus a paid entry to the Miss Pennsylvania Outstanding Teen/America event in June. Winners of that pageant will advance to the Miss Outstanding Teen/America pageant in August. Both of those pageants were launched in 2005.

To qualify for the pageant, contestants must be 13 to 17 years old.

They will be judged in the categories of interview, talent, evening gown, casual wear and onstage questions.

The role of master of ceremonies will be shared by Kayla Molczan, 2005 Miss Butler County Outstanding Teen/America; Heather Pate, 2005 Miss Butler County America; and Darcie Bell, 2005 Miss Moraine State.Annie Rosellini of Butler, the 2005 Miss Pennsylvania Outstanding Teen, will be featured as a special guest.The event is presented by the Miss Butler County and Miss Moraine State/America Scholarship Pageants. Terry Leyland will serve as pageant director.Contestants include:<br></br>

<b>Tawni Darby</b>, daughter of Walt and Lori Darby of Hermitage. She is in ninth grade and attends A Beka Academy. She will perform a lyrical dance to "Via Delaroso."<b>Emiley Duespohl</b>, daughter of Tom and Colleen Duespohl of Butler. She is a freshman at Butler Intermediate High School. She will perform a lyrical dance to "Piece of the Sky."<br></br><br></br>

<b>Victoria Isaacs</b>, daughter of Jr and Tracy Isaacs of Butler. She is a 10th grader at Butler Intermediate High School. She will dance to "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy."<b>Elena LaQuarta</b>, daughter of Paul and Effie LaQuarta of Mount Lebanon. She is an eighth grader at Jefferson Middle School. She will do an acro/lyrical dance to "Superman."<br></br><br></br>

<b>Brooke Miller</b>, daughter of Ron and Rita Miller. She is in 10th grade at Portersville Christian School. She will do a vocal performance to "Someone Like You."<b>Ashley Marie Steighner</b>, daughter of Steve and Shelley Steighner of Butler. She is a freshman at Butler Intermediate High School. She will do a vocal performance to "I Enjoy Being a Girl."<br></br><br></br>

<b>Jennifer Joy Taylor</b>, daughter of Ernie and Bobbi Taylor of Butler. She is a freshman at Knoch High School. She will do a ventriloquist performance.<b>Christina Yanicko</b>, daughter of Thomas and Karen Yanicko of Cranberry Township. She is a ninth grader in the Seneca Valley School District. She will sing "Once Upon a Dream."<br></br><br></br><br></br>

Two pageants will be held in conjunction with the Miss Butler County Outstanding Teen/America and Miss Moraine State Outstanding Teen/America pageant next week:- The 2006 Junior Miss Butler County/America pageant will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Succop Theater at Butler County Community College.- The 2006 Little Miss Butler County/America pageant will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Succop Theater.Admission is $8 for each pageant.For information, call 724-285-3345.
