Scoop returns with full slate of games
Even though it involved just two games, I enjoyed last week's playoff action.
Of course, it didn't hurt that I picked both games correctly. In short, I devoured the appetizer and now plan to feast on a full slate of postseason games involving Butler County-area teams.
That's right, with Freeport and Union/A-C Valley both winning Friday, there's seven games to break down this week.
For the record, I am 83-15 and not looking to take a nosedive with the games meaning so much more.
Here we go!
Seneca Valley vs. Central Catholic — In one of several rematches this week from the regular season, the Raiders will be looking to avenge a 35-0 loss to the Vikings.
This time, SV will keep it close, but Central prevails.
Score: Central Catholic 27-17
Keystone Oaks vs. North Catholic — Both teams have balanced offenses, but the Golden Eagles have given up a lot of points vs. good teams this season. They'll allow too many in this game against the undefeated Trojans.
Score: North Catholic 30-20
Freeport at Elizabeth Forward — Speaking of potent offenses, Elizabeth Forward has one and it will make the difference against the visiting Yellowjackets.
Score: Elizabeth Forward 28-13
Central Clarion at Karns City — The Gremlins beat the Wildcats by 24 points in the regular season.
Yes, Central Clarion has definitely improved since then.
No, the Gremlins will not allow revenge to take place on their home field.
Score: Karns City 31-16
Smethport at Union/A-C Valley — The Hubbers have had the Falcon Knights' number in past postseasons, but Union/A-C Valley turns the tables in a nail-biter in Rimersburg.
Score: Union/A-C Valley 16-14
Butler vs. McDowell — The Golden Tornado lost to the Trojans in September, but did not have running back Cooper Baxter, who was injured.
He's good to go for the rematch and I see this game being a one-score affair throughout and having several lead changes.
McDowell scores last.
Score: McDowell 29-24
Slippery Rock vs. Hickory — The Hornets accounted for Slippery Rock's lone loss this season and they scored very late to do it.
This time, the Rockets' defense makes a late stand.
Score: Slippery Rock 25-20
