Robert Lee "Bob" MacKrell, 60, of Chicora died at 12:21 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital after a two-year battle with cancer.

Born May 9, 1949, in Donegal Township, he was the son of the late Gerald L. MacKrell and the late Geraldine C. Eyth MacKrell.

He was a 1967 graduate of Karns City High School.

He was a buyer for 16 years for American Hardware and the ServiStar Corp. He and his wife owned and operated the Chicora ServiStar Hardware for 10 years. He worked at Lowe's in Butler for five years and retired from AK Steel in 2004.

He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, North Oakland. He was a lifelong member of the NRA, the Pennsylvania Gamefowl Breeders Association and the United Gamefowl Breeders of America.

He was a staunch conservative politically, and he actively supported the Republican National Committee.

He enjoy so many things in his life that involved his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Mary K. (McAnallen) MacKrell, who he married April 26, 1969; a daughter, Kelly D. MacKrell of Butler; a son, Kent R. MacKrell (Teresa) of Chicora; three grandchildren, Abigail MacKrell and Jake and Chaz Ritzert; two sisters, Cynthia Wilson (Carl) of Chicora and Kathy Rodgers (John) of Chicora; a brother, Larry MacKrell (Valjean) of Chicora; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin L. MacKrell; a brother, Richard MacKrell; and a sister, JoAnne Hicks.

<B>MacKrell</B> — Friends of Robert Lee "Bob" MacKrell, who died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora, with the Rev. Joseph Pudichery, pastor, officiating.
