Brandon Hranicky tallied two singles, a double, three runs batted in and one scored as the University of Kentucky pulled out a 9-8 win over Lone Star College, Sunday in the National Club Baseball Association's Division II World Series at Pullman Park.

The win avenges a 3-2 loss in the tournament's opening round and knocks Lone Star College out of the tournament.

In defeat, Lone Star's Nolan McClosky drove in five runs.

Coastal Carolina 17, Virginia Commonwealth 12 — CCU's Jeff Richard went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs batted in and three scored and teammate Dan Steele had three hits in the win.

Virginia Commonwealth 6, Hofstra 5 — After defeating Hofstra 20-2 in the opening round Friday, VCU prevailed in a much tighter game on Sunday.Tim Grandy contributed to the win by doubling and scoring two runs, helping to eliminate Hofstra.The double-elimination tournament continued today, with games scheduled at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
