RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

There will be no Sunday school classes this week at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68. The morning service will be held at 10:30 a.m. this week.

Millie Martsolf will provide music for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. A missions/ministry fair will be held after the service. The event will feature information on missions and a free lunch.

Leonard Baun, the Pittsburgh District's work and witness director, will present a slide presentation of the recent church building trip to Mexico at the 6 p.m. Sunday service.

Permission slips for the Caravan Kids Club fishing trip Wednesday are due Sunday.

A parents' meeting for the Caravan Roundup campout is set for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

The 2005 Disciple class of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will hold its annual weekend retreat at Jumonville Friday through Sunday.

Pentecost Sunday will be observed during weekend worship services. Members should wear red in celebration of Pentecost.

The 11 a.m. Sunday service will feature Bridge Sunday and the final performances of children's choirs for the year.

The youth group will hold an auction of goods and services after the 11 a.m. worship service. Lunch will be available for purchase.

Items for disaster and emergency health kits may be taken to the church during worship services in May. A list of items needed is available in the bulletin. Financial contributions are also being accepted.

Church family members graduating from high school, college or trade schools should submit information to the church office by May 22. Graduates will be recognized June 4 and 5.

COVENANT PRESBY

The annual outdoor Pentecost Service of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday under a tent on the side lawn. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated during the service, and new members will be received. Music will be provided by a brass ensemble.

The church family picnic will follow the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service. Barbecued ham will be provided. Members should take a side dish, vegetable, salad or dessert.

Marie Baird, associate professor of theology at Duquesne University, will lead the Seekers Class at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Assembly Room.

FAITH FELLOWSHIP

The new evening ministry class Love and Respect will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faithway-Fared Drive.

FAITH U.P.

The Prime Timers of Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St., will host a luncheon and dessert buffet prepared by Sue Warheit after the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday.

FIRST BAPTIST

First Baptist Christian School will present an orchestral and choral concert at 7 p.m. today in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St

The church will be among participating churches in a paintball event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp, 130 Elliott Lane, Slippery Rock.

The Berean Sunday school class will host a potluck supper with music and memories of the 1950s at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Baptist Youth Center.

The Rev. Roger McNamara, a church planter from Brandy Station, Va., will be the featured speaker at the 9:45 a.m. Sunday school hour and the 6 p.m. Sunday service. McNamara represents the Baptist Mid-Missions missionary agency in Cleveland.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

Confirmation rehearsal service of worship with communion will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

Confirmation with Holy Communion will be held at the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

A mother-daughter dinner will be held at 6 p.m. May 24. A sign-up sheet in is located in the social room.

GLADE RUN U.P.

Pentacost will be observed and Communion will be celebrated at both Sunday services at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia.

A potluck dinner and prayer service will be held Sunday. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. and the prayer service at 7 p.m. Participants should take a dish to share.

The Mission Team will meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday to go to the East Liberty Soup Kitchen.

GRACEWAY COMMUNITY

The new GraceWay Community Church will begin its services at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Heritage Room at Butler Days Inn. The Rev. Dave West will lead the blended worship service.

A fellowship time with coffee and donuts will precede the service at 9 a.m. Sunday.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

The youth group of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to plant trees at the home of a congregation member. Participants should take a bag lunch and can be picked up at the church at 2:30 p.m.

Kim Sebring, creator of Project Hope for children and families facing extended stays in the hospital, will speak at the Sunday service. The congregation will have the opportunity to participate in Project Hope this summer.

The Women's Spring Banquet will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday in the social hall. The event is open to women of all ages. Participants should take a tureen and table service. Desserts and drinks will be provided. Men from the church will be serving. Secret pals will be revealed and new ones chosen. Sue Garton, a solo handbell ringer, will provide the entertainment.

A work day will be held at 9 a.m. May 19 in the social hall. Participants should take a bag lunch.

HARVEST ASSEMBLY OF GOD

George Bender will be the guest speaker at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Harvest Assembly of God, 160 Brownsdale Road.

HILL U.P.

Seminary graduate Allison Bauer will lead the Saturday and Sunday services at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. A Pentecost offering will also be received. Funds designated as local will benefit Family Pathways of Butler.

The praise team will perform at the 6 p.m. Saturday service.

The confirmation class will be received as new members at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.

Adult volunteers are needed to help with the May 27 youth concert at the church. A sign-up sheet is available in the overflow area.

Youth in grades 1 through 12 interested in the Music, Art and Drama camp must sign up in order to receive their script and music CD. Contact Kathy Sawyer for details.

KARNS CITY U.M.

Combined services with the Methodist churches of Bruin, Chicora and Fairview will be held at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday at Karns City United Methodist Church, 117 Petrolia Street, Karns City. The Rev. Wade Berkey will lead the 8:30 a.m. service and the Rev. Glea Foster will lead the 11 a.m. service.

Sunday school classes for all ages will begin at 9:45 a.m. Sunday.

MERIDIAN U.P.

The senior youth of Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., will hold a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wal-Mart.

The Day of Pentecost will be celebrated at the 11 a.m. Sunday service. Those in attendance should wear red.

MT. CHESTNUT PRESBY

Pentecost Sunday will be observed this week at Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old West 422. The 11 a.m. Sunday service will include the joining of new members and a baptism. Congregation members should wear red. A pig roast will follow the service.

The Christian preschool will hold its closing ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

In honor of Pentecost, those attending the Sunday service at New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School Auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, should wear something red.

Preschool students (and at least one parent) and children in kindergarten through grade 5, who will see "Confessions of a Fourth Grade Nothing," will leave from Knoch High School after the service on May 22. Participants should take money for lunch.

NORTH MAIN ST. CHURCH OF GOD

North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., will host a used book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at The Haven, 1139 N. Main St. Ext. Proceeds will benefit the youth mission trip fund.

Donations for the common shop will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through May 20 at the church. Donations of household items and toys are needed. All donations should be clean and not in need of repair.

A fellowship dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Fellowship Hall 2. Cost is a donation and proceeds will benefit the youth mission trip fund.

OLD UNION PRESBY

The Cemetery Committee of Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, asks that people remove the winter decorations from the cemetery.

Sunday School Celebration will be held this week and each of the classes will report on what they've done through the year. A new member will also be received.

RIDER LUTHERAN

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury. Three youth will also be confirmed.

SAINT ANDREWS U.P.

An old-fashioned Pentecost picnic will follow the 10 a.m. worship service at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St. Participants should meet at Miller Shelter, Butler Memorial Park and take table service, a dish to share and a white elephant gift. Hot dogs and beverages will be provided.

ST. JOHN U.C.C.

Pentecost Sunday will be celebrated at the 11 a.m. Sunday service at St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

A spring cleanup day will be held Saturday at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. A rain date has been set for May 21.

Blood pressure screening will be available before the Saturday service at the Birch Street entrance and from 9:30 to 9:45 a.m. Sunday by the coffee urn.

ST. PETER'S EPISCOPAL

A work day for the church grounds will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St.

Sunday is Pentecost. The Sunday school children will sing at the 10:30 a.m. service.

The midweek healing service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The service will end with Holy Communion.

ST. RICHARD R.C.

The ladies group of St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia, will host a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Those whose last names begin with A-M are to bring a salad, side dish or casserole. Those whose last names begin with N-Z are to bring dessert.

Eucharistic Adoration will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday

The Life Teen Youth Group will volunteer from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lighthouse Food Bank.

The annual flea market will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 20 and 21.

The Youth Group will sell hoagies after Masses on May 21 and May 22. Cost is $5.

SALEM U.M.

Pentecost will be celebrated Sunday at Salem United Methodist Church, 350 Manor Road, Wexford. The confirmation class will join the church.

The spring family event will begin at 5:30 p.m. May 29.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Communion will be offered at the 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Dr. The 11 a.m. Sunday service will be a contemporary service.

In celebration of Pentecost, red geraniums will be planted after the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

A mother/child tea party will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Sunday is the final day to sign up for Bible school.

A workshop will be held at 9 a.m. Friday to make banners for the sanctuary.

The Trinity Quilters are seeking backing materials for quilts being made for Trinity Northside.

TRINITY PRESBY

Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., will celebrate Pentecost at the Sunday service. The Rev. Carl Baughman of the Samaritan Counseling Ministry will be the guest speaker. The Coventry Choir will sing "Send us Your Spirit." The congregation is asked to wear red.

The youth group will hold a car wash from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wal-Mart.

Donations for the rummage sale will be accepted Wednesday at the church.

The final Veggie Tale meeting for the season will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Volunteers from the church will serve the community meal from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Andrew's United Presbyterian Church.

A vacation Bible school meeting will be held at 7 p.m. May 12.

VICTORY CHRISTIAN

The Worship and Music Committee will host a spaghetti luncheon after the Sunday service. Donations will be accepted and takeouts are available. Proceeds will be used to purchase choir music.

The Bible study picnic will now be held today at the home of Wayne and Debbie Bell, 344 Creek Drive, Slippery Rock.

WHITE OAK SPRINGS PRESBY

Pentecost Sunday will be observed during the 9:45 a.m. Sunday service at the White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew. The Lord's Supper will be celebrated and a Pentecost offering will be received to help youth at risk. A soup and salad luncheon will follow the service.

The youth group will join with the youth of Meridian and Trinity Presbyterian churches for a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wal-Mart.
