CRANBERRY TWP — This year the township's annual Community Day celebration will run for two days and is being held this weekend, rather than during its traditional Fourth of July time slot.

Along with the change in days, the Cranberry Township Community Chest brought back the Cranberry Rotary Club's chicken barbecue on Friday.

The traditional Community Day events will begin with the annual Lion's Club Pancake Breakfast, which will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The games and entertainment begin at 3 p.m. and continue to 11 p.m. at the Cranberry Community Park off Route 19, culminating in the fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.

Some of the favorite events of the past include the fire department's Battle of the Barrels and bingo along with children's activities throughout the day, including a family train ride, a kiddie train, a children's tent with games and crafts, petting zoo and pony rides, Mike The Balloon Guy, Spangles the Clown, free inflatable attractions, a climbing mountain, a dunk tank, Defender Dome Dodgeball, 4-in-1 Funhouse Wizard and Bungee Ball.

Musical entertainment on the Rotary Amphitheater Stage will include local bands from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m., Eldorado at 5:45 p.m. and Come Together, a Beatles tribute band, at 8 p.m.
