The Associated Artists of Butler County presents the three works that area artists entered in last year’s ArtPrize competition, which takes place in the fall in Grand Rapids, Mich. The pieces are “Sleeping Bear Dunes” by Dennis Keyes, “I Hear the Train a Comin’” by Tom Panei and “The Moment, Nails Endured” by Bill Secunda. The display continues through Jan. 24 at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St. Also, “CherryWare” by Christy Culp continues through Jan. 30 at the Art Center. A closing reception is planned for 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 30. Admission is free. Gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., will host Celebrate the Maridon: Year of the Goat on Feb. 21 at Butler Country Club. A cash bar will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by hors d’oeuvres at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. The evening will include entertainment and music for dancing. The event is black tie optional. PITTSBURGH

Carnegie Museum of Art, 4400 Forbes Ave., presents a Burns Bash on Friday at the Pittsburgh Golf Club. Robert Burns, widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland, was the favorite poet of museum founder Andrew Carnegie. Guests of the dinner will be treated to a Scottish strolling supper and dessert buffet, whiskey tasting, music, bag piper, highland dancers, silent auction, and souvenir photograph. Tickets are $125.
