Florence "Ernestine" Scott Wade, 83, of Seneca passed away Tuesday at UPMC Seneca after an extended illness.

Born Aug. 29, 1927, in Six Points, Allegheny Township, she was the daughter of Ernest and Florence Terwilliger Scott.

Growing up, she picked blueberries for her school clothes and helped her mother prepare meals daily for the farm hands who worked on the family farm. She baked her first pie at the age of 7. She was her parents' caretaker when they became older. She received her education in Eau Claire.

She married her high school sweetheart, Frank C. Wade, on June 29, 1946.

Mrs. Wade was a homemaker and had been a waitress in the Butler area.

She was a member of the Seneca United Methodist Church and was the former head chairwoman for funeral dinners.

Ernestine enjoyed playing cards and had traveled throughout the United States with her husband, seeing every state. She also enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and spending winters in Alabama with her son since 1986 until a few years ago. She also liked to bake and can.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, William Wade of Seneca; three special nieces, Judy DeLeiso and her husband, Ron, of Parker, Norma Scott of Newport News, Va., and Sandy Mays and her husband, Norman, of Emlenton; two nephews, Jeffery and Kevin Schaffer of Monroeville; a brother-in-law, Sam Schaffer of Monroeville; a sister-in-law, Frances Scott of Akron, Ohio; and an aunt, Icle Scott of Winter Haven, Fla.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Wade; two brothers, Elbert and William Scott; and a sister, Mary Schafer.

<B>WADE</B> — Visitation for Florence "Ernestine" Scott Wade, who died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, will take place at the <B>Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home</B>, Clintonville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Robert Wilson of the Seneca United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place at East Unity Cemetery.Friends can e-mail condolences at www.mckinleyfuneralhome.net.
