Sankey 60th anniversary

The Sankeys in 1946

Theodore "Bob" and Frances "Alene" Sankey of Butler celebrated 60 years of marriage recently with a family dinner at the Garden Gate Restaurant in Prospect.

The former Frances Hinchberger married Sankey on June 6, 1946, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

They have six children, Thomas Sankey of Columbus, Ga.; Barbara Malis, Donna Huff, Jackie Daugherty and Ronnie Sankey, all of Butler; and Edwin Sankey of Bradenton, Fla.

They also have 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Sankey is retired from a position in hospital administration for several hospitals.

A retired lieutenant colonel in the Army, he served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and during the Cold War. He is a member of the VFWPost 249, the American Legion Post 778, the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans Ceremonial Squad. He is also the last living charter member of the South Butler Volunteer Fire Department.Mrs. Sankey is a homemaker. She belongs to the South Butler Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She is also a past volunteer for the American Red Cross and Butler Memorial Hospital.The couple belongs to St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
