RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

The Rev. Barry Mohney, recently retired pastor from California, Pa., will be the speaker at the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at Butler Church of The Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68.

There will be no evening service on Sunday.

An adults' night out will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 4 at Hoss's Steak and Sea House in Grove City. A sign-up sheet is posted on the church bulletin board.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

The summer schedule of worship begins this week at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road. Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 and 10 a.m. Sunday.

The UMCOR emergency kit items for this week are nail clippers and combs. Monetary donations also will be accepted.

Members interested in sponsoring a child through Compassion International should contact Don Loomis for information.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

Tammy Summers will provide music during the Sunday service at Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave.

The vacation Bible school program, "Lava Lava Island," will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. July 25 to 30. Contact the church office to register.

COMMUNITY ALLIANCE

Rebuilders, Phase I at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, will be starting over at 7 p.m. June 7.

COVENANT PRESBY

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated at the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St.

The final Seekers Class until September will meet at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Assembly Room.

FIRST BAPTIST

First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will participate in a college-age retreat this weekend at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp, 130 Elliott Lane, Slippery Rock. The retreat runs from 6 p.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Saturday. A paintball event for attendees from the Association of Independent Baptist Churches of Western Pennsylvania will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the camp.

First Baptist Christian School will hold its end-of-the-year picnic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The preschool family night and end-of-year dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the social rooms.

The Women's Missionary Fellowship will host a year-end dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Baptist Youth Center. Participants should take a tureen or salad. Dessert will be provided. An officer election will be held.

FIRST U.M.

A white rose memorial service will be held during the 6 p.m. Saturday and the 8:20 and 10:50 a.m. Sunday services at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St. Families of those being remembered are asked to stand when the name of their loved one is called.

The church office will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

A youth rally meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Epworth Center. Contact the church office at 724-283-6160 for information.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

Day of Pentecost Holy Communion will be held at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday services at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

There will be no community dinner on Monday.

GLADE RUN U.P.

The Lord's Supper will be celebrated at the 8:45 and 11 a.m. Sunday services at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia. The student grant and loan fund offering will be received.

The building and grounds team will meet at 7 p.m. today.

The Preschool Place will hold graduation and a tea for 4- and 5-year-olds at 2 p.m. Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday and 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

HILL U.P.

The Pentecost offering will be received at the Saturday and Sunday services of Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. The offering will benefit Family Pathways.

The deacons will sponsor a salad luncheon during the fellowship hour on Sunday. Participants should take a salad to share.

Registration is open for the Kids Club Bible school to be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 10 through 12. To register, contact Kathy Sawyer at 724-287-5427.

Volunteers are needed to set up and break down before and after the 6 p.m. Saturday service. For information, contact John Porter.

MERIDIAN U.P.

Sunday is the Day of the Pentecost at the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave. Communicants Class members will join the church during the service.

Vacation Bible school will be held from 9 a.m. to noon the week of June 21. Registration forms are in the church hallway.

The church picnic and the closing of Bible school will be held June 25.

MOUNT CHESTNUT PRESBY

The weekday children's program of Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old West 422, will hold its final program for the season at 6 p.m. today. A celebration picnic is planned. The program will resume Sept. 16.

Memorial Day and Pentecost will be celebrated during the 8:45 and 11 a.m. Sunday services.

Students who have completed the confirmation class will be honored at a brunch between the Sunday services.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

The New Life Creative Dance Team will present "God's Got an Army" at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School Auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg. In honor of Pentecost Sunday, members are asked to wear red.

Kid's Community will not be held Sunday.

NORTH MAIN ST. CHURCH OF GOD

The office of North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext. will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

Former Olympian Melinda Rhodes will direct a girl's basketball camp from 9 a.m. to noon July 6 through 9. The program is open to students in elementary and junior high school. Contact the church office at 724-285-4214 for information.

OLD UNION PRESBY

The summer schedule begins this week at Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Sundays. The guest speaker this Sunday is the Rev. Dick Morledge, pastor emeritus of Bakerstown Presbyterian Church.

Sign-up sheets are in the back of the church for anyone wanting to help or make a donation for the June 19 Strawberry Festival.

PARK U.P.

A Pentecost Communion service will be held at the 8:55 and 10:55 a.m. Sunday services at Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.

The annual camp meeting will be held at 10:55 a.m. June 6 at Pine Valley Bible Camp and Conference Center in Ellwood City. Sunday school will not be held on that date, and the 11 a.m. Sunday service will be held in the conference center's sanctuary. The service will honor high school graduates. A picnic will follow the service.

RIDER LUTHERAN

Confirmation candidates and sponsors will meet at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, for graduation practice.

Confirmation will be held during the 10 a.m. Sunday service. The Sacrament of Holy Communion will also be taken during the service.

A pot luck dinner will be held after the 10 a.m. Sunday service. Participants should take a covered dish.

Sunday also marks the last day of Sunday school classes until the fall and pickle jar Sunday.

SAINT ANDREWS U.P.

Pentecost will be observed and Communion will be served at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 East Jefferson St. Members should wear red in observance of Pentecost.

Members interested in attending the Pittsburgh Pirates game Saturday can call the church office at 724-287-4777 for tickets.

Starting Monday, summer church office hours will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

SLIPPERY ROCK U.M.

Worship leaders for the 9 a.m. Sunday service at Slippery Rock United Methodist Church, Franklin and Maple streets, Slippery Rock, will be Wally Wells and Dean Wells.

Fred Doerr will provide patriotic music at the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

Materials are now being collected for the mission kits to be taken to the annual conference.

ST. JOHN'S REFORMED

Registration for the vacation Bible school program, "Lava Lava Island" is now open at St. John's Reformed Church, Route 68 and Benbrook Road. Vacation Bible school will be held from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. June 7 to 11. To register, call the church at 724-482-2740, or the director at 724-482-4618.

An adult class will also be available during Bible school hours.

ST. MARK'S LUTHERAN

The Lutheran youth organization of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., will sponsor a car wash from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Wendy's restaurant in New Castle Road.

Communion will be offered during both Sunday services this week. Those who are unable to come to the altar to receive communion should sit in the front pew on the pulpit side.

As of June 6, the worship schedule will change. Services will be held at 8:30 and 10 a.m. Sundays. Sunday school will be held during the 10 a.m. service.

There will be a white water rafting trip July 24 at Ohiopyle State Park. The trip is open to adults and youth in grades 7 through 12. Cost is $30 for students and $61 for adults. Reservations are due June 6. Contact Lenore Reges, Deb Elliott or the church office at 724-287-6741 for information.

The primary department will hold a rally day carnival at 10 a.m. June 14. The event will feature games, prizes and food.

ST. PETER'S EPISCOPAL

Holy Communion will be served at the 8:15 and 10:30 Sunday services at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St. Refreshments will be served after the 10:30 a.m. service to celebrate the church's birthday. Parishioners are encouraged to wear red in observance of Pentecost.

ST. RICHARD R.C.

The men's group of Saint Richard Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia, will attend the Pittsburgh Pirates' game at 5 p.m. Saturday. For tickets, contact the church office at 724-444-1971.

A Mass of Healing for Charismatics will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 4. Prayer teams will be available after the Mass for personal prayer petitions.

The Guatemala Mission Group will sponsor a car wash from 3 to 7 p.m. June 4 at the Wal-Mart on Route 8.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Pentecost will be observed and Communion served at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Dr.

The church office will be closed on Monday.

TRINITY PRESBY

Pentecost Sunday will be observed Sunday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave.

Sunday also marks the final day for Sunday school classes for the season. Services will begin at 10 a.m. starting June 6.

The Covenant Food Cupboard item for May is flour or rice.

WHITE OAK SPRINGS PRESBY

Pentecost will be observed at the 9:45 a.m. Sunday service at the White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew.

A soup and salad luncheon will follow the Sunday service.
