John E. 'Ed' Mincer

John E. "Ed" Mincer, 95, of Mars died Thursday afternoon at LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Born in Callery on May 9, 1912, he was the son of Charles and Alma Eckstein Mincer.

Mr. Mincer was a retired millworker from the Anvil Products Corp. of Allison Park.

He was a member of the Christian Community Church in Mars, and was an avid woodworker and dowser. He also belonged to the International Order of Oddfellows Lodge 1004 of Allison Park.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Darwin (Sandra) Kennedy of Mars and Mrs. Dennis (Linda) Carney of Boiling Springs, Pa.; a son, John E. Mincer Jr. of Pinehurst, N.C.; six grandchildren; four great- grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret F. Hays Mincer, whom he married on Sept. 14, 1940, and who died in April 1994; three sisters, and two brothers.

"Ed" Mincer, who died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave. Mars. Funeral services will follow at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Turney, his church pastor, officiating.
