Edgar C. 'Sonny' Heeter Jr.
Edgar C. “Sonny” Heeter Jr., 81, of Parker went to be with the Lord Saturday at the VA Butler Healthcare.
Born Nov. 17, 1929, in Callensburg, he was a son of the late Edgar C. Sr. and Jenny (Shoffner) Heeter.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Heeter, and a sister, Janice Best.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Ann (Troutman) Heeter, who he married Sept. 24, 1949; sons, Larry W. Heeter and his wife, Barb, of Petrolia, Michael A. Heeter and his wife, Sandy, of Knox and Rick L. Heeter and his wife, Tina, of Jonesboro, Ga.; a daughter, Lori Sue Altmire and her husband, Charles, of Kennerdell; 12 grandchildren, Amy Heeter and her friend, David, Heather Deittrick and her husband, Brennan, Jeromy Heeter and his wife, Wendy, Alisa Prichard and her husband Billy, Jonathan and Justin Heeter, Shanna Heeter and her friend, Chris, Joshua and Lyndsay Fisher, Evan Heeter, Monica Barner and her husband, Mark, and Doug Altmire and his wife Rose; nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Thomas, Keenan, Gunnar, Spencer, Jordon, Hannah, Sophie and Grace; a brother, Martin A. Heeter and his wife, JoAnn “Joie,” of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; a sister, Jesse Bailey and her husband, Ray, of Parker; a sister-in-law, Kaye Heeter of Callensburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Heeter was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Korea.
He retired in 1991 from Cooper Energy in Grove City after 35 years.
He was a member of the Parker VFW Post 7073 and the American Legion Post 598, and the United Steel Workers of America.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was a devoted Steelers fan and also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and the family's weekly card game.
<B>HEETER</B> — Friends of Edgar C. “Sonny” Heeter Jr., who died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, will be received at the <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, 201 S. Wayne St., Parker, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be at the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dan Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Callensburg Cemetery.Members of the VFW Post 7073 and the American Legion Post 598 of Parker will conduct a veteran's memorial service at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.Information also is available at www.buzardfuneralhomes.com.
