11:42 p.m. Tuesday — Jesse C. Kastelic, 19, of Clay Township was arrested on charges of drunken driving after he allegedly led police on a high-speed chase through the city.A patrol officer spotted the suspect in a car parked after hours in Memorial Park. When the officer tried to speak with the teen, he drove away. Police chased after Kastelic's car through “many streets” and at speeds reaching 70 mph in a 25 mph zone, according to court documents.Police noted there were pedestrians along the pursuit route and Kastelic failed to stop at six stop signs. He eventually turned into a driveway in the 400 block of West North Street, got out of the car and ran.The officer and his canine, Blade, chased after the suspect on foot through a number of yards. Police later found Kastelic hiding under a pine tree and reeking of alcohol. A breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.146 percent, or more than seven times the state's 0.02 percent legal limit for minors.Kastelic was arraigned on a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police and misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, DUI by a minor, resisting arrest and defiant trespass. Police also cited him for reckless driving and underage drinking.He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail, following arraignment.3:42 p.m. Tuesday — Police arrested George L. Montgomery, 20, no known address, after he caused a disturbance outside a Kaufman Drive home.Montgomery is accused of swearing and calling another man there a derogatory name, according to court documents. Police told him to leave the property, owned by the Butler County Housing Authority, but he refused and continued swearing.Montgomery was arraigned on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and defiant trespass, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.
2:19 a.m. Sunday — Natalie I. Carroll, 22, of Worthington, Ohio, was arrested for drunken driving after an officer spotted her sport utility vehicle traveling the wrong way on Midway Alley between Domino's Pizza and West Water Street.Carroll admitted she had two mixed drinks and five beers earlier that night, according to court documents. She was arrested after failing several field sobriety tests.A breath test later showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.190 percent, or more than double the state's 0.08 percent legal limit, documents said.Police, meanwhile, searched Carroll's SUV and found suspected marijuana.She is charged with driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and a pair of traffic violations.
12:01 a.m. Wednesday — An unidentified vehicle struck the end of a guardrail on Claytonia Road, just south of Vance Lane in Clay Township. The unknown driver did not stop.Wednesday — Police charged Michelle D. Mato, 47, of Lyndora with five felony counts of theft in connection with the July 22 theft of five guns owned by a 54-year-old man on Sarver Road in Winfield Township.7 p.m. Monday — Two would-be burglars — a known white female and an unknown white male — ran off after trying to get inside a home on Clearfield Road in Clearfield Township.Police did not identify the female. The male is described as being about 5 feet, 4 inches tall with a medium build, long dark hair and a full beard. He was wearing a greenish gray T-shirt with the word “Jeep” on it, and cargo-style shorts.The suspects were seen leaving in a white Chevrolet Cruze. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Monday — Five trees were stolen from the parking lot of Thomas Green Accounting on North Oakland Drive in Oakland Township. The theft happened between Friday and Monday.Monday — An unknown burglar stole $150 from a 55-year-old man's home in the 600 block of Muddy Creek Road in Brady Township. The money was on a counter top. The burglary and theft happened between 6 a.m. Sunday and 6 p.m. Monday.7 p.m. Sunday — A 15-year-old Boyers girl was arrested on charges she repeatedly punched and kicked a 17-year-old Cabot girl on the Butler-Freeport Community Trail in Winfield Township. Police did not identify either girl.The suspect faces a charge of simple assault in juvenile court.July 13 — An unknown vandal armed with a BB gun damaged the windows of an unspecified number of cars in Center Township. The cars were on Lite Lane, Route 8 and Swamp Run Road.The vandalism happened between midnight and 8:30 a.m. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
Sunday — An unknown thief stole an Xbox video game console from a home in the 300 block of Hollow Road in Washington Township, Armstrong County. The theft happened between 6 and 9 p.m.
