Claypool

Walter L. Claypool, 90, of Kittanning died Friday at his home.

He was born June 7, 1919, in North Buffalo Township, the son of Alvin and Orpha (Bowser) Claypool.

He was a member of the Center Hill Church of the Brethren and Teamsters Union Local 211.

He was a former employee of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Pittsburgh Press as a circulation supervisor until his retirement in 1985.

He was a 1938 graduate of Kittanning High School and enjoyed mowing the lawn, creating cards on the computer, tracking the weather and operating his video camera. His true passion was spending time with his family.

Surviving are three daughters, Bonnie Lou Wagner and her husband, Harold, of Shawnee, Okla., Charla Suzanne Rome and her husband, Francis, of Butler and Cynthia Denise Metz and her husband, David, of Kittanning; six grandchildren, Tamila Austin and her husband, Bret, Lana Evans and her husband, Brad, Allison Metz, Clinton Rome and his wife, Elizabeth, Jillian Metz and Joel Metz; and five great-grandchildren, Adam Wolff, Joshua Wolff, Jackelyn Wolff, Kylie Evans and Keith Evans.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline (Anthony) Claypool, whom he married Sept. 23, 1941, and who died Feb. 21, 1999; four brothers, Virgil, Herbert, Arnold and Vernon Claypool; and one sister, Edna Toy.

<B>CLAYPOOL</B> — The family of Walter L. Claypool, who died Friday, July 31, 2009, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Bauer Funeral Home</B>, 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Dr. Wes Berkebile officiating.
