SR boys soccer advances
Hunter Berry and Nick Kingerski scored second-half goals Wednesday night as the Slippery Rock boys soccer team defeated Warren, 2-1, in a District 10 Class 2A quarterfinal at Meadville High School.
The game was scoreless at halftime.
Berry scored with 20 minutes, 52 seconds remaining. Kingerski headed in a shot off a corner kick with nine minutes left for a 2-0 lead. Warren scored its goal with approximately six minutes to play.
The Rockets (15-3-1) advance to the semifinal round against Mercyhurst Prep at a site and time to be determined.
Mars advanced in the WPIAL Class 3A playoffs with a 3-0 victory over Trinity. Match scores were 26-24, 25-17, 25-20.
The Planets will play Latrobe — a 3-0 winner over Franklin Regional — Saturday at a site and time to be determined.
North Catholic 3, Laurel Highlands 0 — The No. 1-seeded Trojanettes swept the visitors in a first-round matchup. The scores were 25-8, 25-20, and 25-14.
North will meet the winner of Moon and Albert Gallatin on Saturday. The time and place are yet to be determined.
Hampton 3, Knoch 0 — Olivia Crocker had seven kills and Sabrina Schlott and Jess Farbacher turned in five apiece in this WPIAL Class 3A first-round playoff clash, but the Knights lost by scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-18.
