North girls move on
Simone Sharpless scored two goals and added three assists as North Catholic dispatched Valley, 5-1, Tuesday in a WPIAL Class 2A girls soccer first-round playoff game at Norwin High School.
Lauren MacDonald added three goals in the victory and Rylee Kumer stopped four shots for the top-seeded Trojanettes (14-1).
Volleyball
Seneca Valley swept Baldwin in the first round of the WPIAL Class 4A playoffs by scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-22.

Bella Ielase had 11 kills and 10 digs while Lexi Ruckdeschel contributed 10 kills and 11 digs.
Mackenzie Parks chipped in with four kills and 13 digs, Jenna Stefanacci 20 assists and Keira McVay eight digs.
A-C Valley finishes with an overall record of 9-8.
Slippery Rock 3, Union City 0 — Anora Robare had 18 assists and five kills Monday as the Rockets advanced in the District 10 Class 2A playoffs with a 25-20, 25-15, 25-23 win over the Bears. Virginia Recchia added nine assists and 15 digs, pulling within three assists of 1,000 for her high school career.
Molly Bissel had 12 kills for the Rockets.
Hockey
Seneca Valley stretched its winning streak to four games with a 5-2 victory over Central Catholic on Monday. Jaxson Read scored two goals for the Raiders.
Ethan Lindbergh, Tyler Garvin and Tyler Maxwell all scored goals in the win. Johnathon Nichols made 23 saves. The Raiders host Canon-McMillan Nov. 3 at the Baierl Ice Complex.
