Former GOP House speaker in prisonCHICAGO — Former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert wheeled himself into a federal prison in Minnesota on Wednesday to serve his 15-month sentence in a hush-money case involving revelations that he sexually abused at least four boys while a high school wrestling coach in Illinois.The 74-year-old Republican — one of the highest-ranking U.S. politicians to ever go to prison — arrived around noon at the facility where he will be known as Inmate No. 47991-424.Hastert, who began using a wheelchair after falling ill last year, wore a black shirt and camouflage pants as he wheeled himself into the complex between razor-wire fencing. The only person accompanying him was a woman, who followed him carrying crutches, a plastic bag and a small brown box.

Jail break done in ‘Shawshank’ style DAYTON, Ohio — Authorities say a pair of Indiana inmates climbed through a wall of their prison cell in an escape reminiscent of the one in the 1994 film, “The Shawshank Redemption” before being apprehended in Ohio four days later.Police in Dayton, Ohio, caught 39-year-old Chadwick Heath and 27-year-old Michael Roberts Tuesday.Before their escape Friday from the jail in Connersville, Indiana, Roberts was being held on burglary and theft charges and Heath on drug-dealing charges. A TV station reports officials suspect the inmates spent weeks carving through a stone wall to break out.Heath’s mother is facing charges after authorities say she assisted the pair while they were on the lam.Two inmates in New York spent weeks on the run last summer after tunneling out of a prison there.
