Ruth Craig

Ruth Craig of Chicora celebrated her 90th birthday with an open house at the Chicora Fire Hall.

The former Ruth Holben, she was born June 6, 1923, at the family farm in Chicora. She married the late Robert “Sparky” Craig on Aug. 11, 1943.

She has seven children, John Craig, Dennis Craig, Ed Craig, Fred “Spike” Craig and Janis Reeves, all of Chicora, Brenda Mazzotta of Mars and Tyra Francis of Chicora. She also has 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and is expecting two more great-grandchildren this year.

The Craigs owned and operated Silverside Pool in Chicora from 1970 to 1985.

She is a member of the Chicora United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.
