Shirley Iman, above, of Conoquenessing was a hit with her viking headgear, and Christie Muzzana, below of Renfrew wore a stars- and-strips hat Sunday at a picnic for St. John's United Church of Christ, Evans City. The picnic was hosted by David and Sue Ann Jones on Old Route 68, where church services preceded a garden vegetable cookoff, beach hat competition and other activities. Winner of the beach hat contest was Stella Neely of Evans City. Winners of the garden vegetable cookoff were: salad category, Pam Greenawalt for her summer vegetable salad; vegetable category, Diane Iman for her zuchinni casserole; main course category, Jones for a zuchinni quiche; and dessert category, Bea Green for lemon balm cookies, which also were named overall winner.
