Goaltender Dave Bowser makes a save on Tim Fryer during the Winkler Classic charity hockey game recently at the Penguins Pond At Station Square. Approximatey 40 people from the Butler area attended and/or took part in the game, which helped raise funds for the Esperenza/The Hope Project. The organization, founded by Bill and Marge DiCuccio of Adams Township, has provided relief efforts to a small community in the Dominican Republic since 2005. Former Butler High School hockey players in the Winkler Classic included Dane Winkler, Jeff Pozzuto, Josh Bobby, Adam Easterbrook, Cam Jurysta and Rob Barnhart. Funds raised at the Winkler Classic will be used during a mission trip to the Dominican Republic Feb. 1.
