TIME CAPSULE: John M. Eisler, left, and Dr. Frank W. Preston, right, stand with their wives beside a trail marker in Moraine State Park that was dedicated in honor of Dr. Preston. According to the Oct. 21, 1983, edition of the Butler Eagle, both men were honored in ceremonies hosted by state Sen. Tim Shaffer for their contributions to the establishment of two state parks, McConnell’s Mill and Moraine State Park. A picnic grove in Moraine was named the Eisler Grove and the hiking trail was named the Wyggeston Trail to honor the classmates of Dr. Preston in the English school who were killed in World War I.
