Wednesday - Sherman Jones, 26, of Pittsburgh has been charged with a misdemeanor in the first degree for retail theft. He is accused of stealing four cartons of cigarettes from the Mini-Mart at 400 W. Jefferson St. Police also report other cigarette thefts in the city are being investigated.
5:08 p.m. Tuesday - Karen Louise Scheller, 59, of 207 Crab Run Road, Evans City, was traveling south on Route 19 near the intersection with Fanker Road when her vehicle struck a deer.4:37 a.m. Sunday - James Everett McCleary, 28, of Beaver Falls, Beaver County, lost control of his vehicle on Zehner School Road because of transmission problems. The vehicle went down a hillside and into a field.5:32 p.m. Oct. 20 - Timothy O'Brien, no age available, of Bethel Park, Allegheny County, was traveling on Route 19 near the North Star Pontiac dealership when his vehicle hit a deer.4:36 p.m. Oct. 19 - Brothers Thomas Paul Belstering, 44, of 22047 Perry Way, Zelienople, and John (Jack) Joseph Belstering, 35, of 604 Zeigler Road, Rochester, Beaver County, were cited with disorderly conduct following a dispute and fistfight at Plunkett Motor Freight on Route 19.5:45 p.m. Oct. 19 - Convenience store clerk Danielle Duncan, 25, of 114 Perry Highway, Harmony, and the owners of the Buy N Fly on Route 68 were cited for selling tobacco to minors following a police compliance check.8:45 a.m. Oct. 18 - An employee at Berry Metals Co., 2408 Evans City Road, reported two white males were seen on videotape on successive nights stealing copper metal shavings from a bin behind the plant. A day later Brandon Magerl, 21, and Devin Lutz, 19, both of 739 Spring St., Harmony, were charged with the theft. A search of their property found a truck with copper metal shavings in its bed. The copper was valued at $350.
11:10 a.m. - Monday - A vehicle driven by an unknown driver hit a car on Broad Street owned by Astra Rihel-Dennison, 25, of 178 Irishtown Road. Rihel-Dennison's car was not damaged, but the other vehicle was damaged near its front right turn signal. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Grove City Police.Oct. 21 - A 13-year-old boy will be sent to Mercer County Court for possession of weapons on school property and disorderly conduct after an incident where he reportedly made a threat and brandished of a knife on a school bus.8:06 p.m. Oct. 20 - A 13-year-old boy on his bicycle and a car driven by Gaylord Knight, 69, of 218 Blaine St. collided in the alley behind the American Legion on South Broad Street. The boy was taken to United Community Hospital for minor injuries. Knight's passenger, Donna Knight, 62, was not injured.
1 a.m. Thursday - An investigation is under way to find the driver of a vehicle that hit a car in the parking lot of the Rock House Bar in Clay Township and then fled. Neither the suspect nor the victim is known.11:15 p.m. Saturday - Shaunathon Ray Donald, 20, of Allison Park, and Justin Thomas Mech, 21, of Valencia, were arrested after a traffic stop on Route 173 at Harmony Road in Slippery Rock Township. Donald is being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and underage drinking, and Mech with possession of a small amount of marijuana.11:15 a.m. Saturday - No one was injured when a Jeep failed to stop at an intersection at Centertown and Whitaker roads in Mercer Township and was hit by an oncoming car.The Jeep was driven by Kathy Savage, 46 of Kennerdell. Police say she did not stop at a stop sign, pulling in front of a car driven by Robert Madia, 70, of Allison Park.None of Savage's passengers, Phyllis McGinnis, 58, and Mary Savage, 68, both of Kennerdell, was injured.Anna Mae Madia, 69, of Allison Park, who was a passenger in Madia's car, also escaped injury.
3:30 p.m., Thursday - Tamra Westlake, 17, of Oil City and her passenger, Traci Westlake, 34, of Oil City were not injured when a hunter's dog ran in front of their car on Polk Cutoff near the State Game Lands in Sandycreek Township, Venango County, and was hit, causing Tamra's car to cross the road and hit a cement post.
Wednesday - Grove City Dodge reported the theft of a snowplow from the dealership in Pine Township. No value was given for the plow.
