McKinney

Eugene E. McKinney, 85, of Meridian Road, Butler, passed away at 4:40 p.m. Saturday at his home.

Born April 15, 1925, in East Brady, he was the son of the late David McKinney and Mabel Sigworth McKinney.

Eugene was a graduate of Kittanning High School.

Mr. McKinney was a member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and as an usher. He also served as a member of session.

Mr. McKinney had worked for C.A. Snyder Pontiac and Gil Morrow Pontiac. He retired from both Oberg Industries and Penn United Technology, where he was a machinist.

He was a veteran of the U.S Army, serving during World War II at the Pentagon and in Japan following the war.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora and the Buco Travel Trailer Club.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth M. King McKinney. They were married Sept. 12, 1946. Also surviving are one son, Mark Douglas McKinney and his wife, Patty, of High Point, N.C.; two daughters, Carol Araine McKinney of Butler and Peggy J. Brewster and her husband, Burton, of Chicora; two brothers, David McKinney of Rimersburg and Richard McKinney of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Sarah “Sal” Summerville of Rimersburg and Donna Steiner of Sligo; six grandchildren, Eric, Douglas and Benjamin Brewster and Nathan, Jason and Jerrod McKinney; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas McKinney.

McKinney, who died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, will be received at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Clark Sawyer of the Hill United Presbyterian Church officiating.
