Ira Ted B. Cranmer
Ira Ted B. Cranmer, 55, of Butler passed away Thursday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.
He was born April 23, 1961, in Butler to John B. Cranmer Jr. and Joanne Burlbaugh Cranmer.
Mr. Cranmer was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from West Virginia University and also obtained an associate degree in mathematics from Butler County Community College.
Ted was the president and owner of Mount Chestnut Oil and Gas Development Corp. and TBC Consulting. Before owning his own business, he was employed by Phillips Production Co. He served for more than 24 years on the board of directors of both the Pennsylvania Oil and Gas Association and the newly-created Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association after the merger in 2010. Ted served on the Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Department’s Advisory Committee at WVU for about two decades. He was recognized as the outstanding alumni for the WVU Mineral Resources Alumni Chapter in 2014. Ted also held the position of treasurer for POGAM and was always a very active member on regulatory and legislative issues over the years. He was passionate about the oil and gas industry and golf and combined his love of both to create and lead the annual fundraiser at the Wanango Golf Club, helping to raise thousands of dollars for the efforts of the oil and gas industry for the past 10 years.
Ted was a member of Butler Country Club, Butler Lodge 272 F&AM, New Castle Consistory, Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh, Butler Caravan 14, Elks BPOE Lodge 2249 in Cranberry, and was a past member and chairman of the Butler County Community College board of trustees. He enjoyed golf, NASCAR and sports, especially all Pittsburgh teams and Dale Earnhart Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryll, who he married on June 5, 1999; stepson, Zachary Mayes of Spartanburg, S.C.; parents John and Joanne Cranmer of Cabot; brother, Eric Cranmer and his wife, Andrea, of Chicora; sister, Vickie Zaccari and her husband, Bob, of Valencia; three nieces, Jenna Hartman, Bella Durr and Kristen Zaccari, and six nephews, Tyler Cranmer, Austin Cranmer, Brandon Cranmer, Jarod Hartman, Frank Durr and Adam Zaccari.
CRANMER — Friends of Ira Ted B. Cranmer, who passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St.
Officers and members of Butler Lodge 272 F&AM will have a service at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Elks BPOE Lodge 2249 in Cranberry will have an Elk Funeral Service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the North Street Christian Church, 220 W. North St., with the Rev. Jeff Curtis, retired pastor, and the Rev. Robert C. Huber, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
