The Butler School District has set kindergarten registration times for children entering school this fall.

Even with five of the district’s 11 elementary schools likely closing at the end of the school year, school officials want families to register with the child’s current home school.

“We’re trying to keep things as normal as possible,” said Mary Wolf, assistant superintendent.

School board members will take a final vote on a district consolidation plan in May. In the preliminary plan, Broad Street, Center Avenue, Clearfield, Meridian and Oakland elementary schools would close in June.

If consolidation plans are approved, parents would be notified of the school their child is to attend in the fall.
