2:46 p.m. Monday - John Cumpston, 49, of 508 Bredin Ave., Apt A was arrested for allegedly assaulting Shirley Doctor, 40, during a dispute at the woman's Bredin Street home. Cumpston is charged with simple assault and terroristic threats.
11:50 p.m. Sunday - An unknown driver of an unidentified dark-colored vehicle, possibly an Oldsmobile Cutlass, struck the rear of a car stopped at a traffic light on New Castle Street at the Butler Senior High School entrance, and drove off after the crash.Debra Denk, 24, of Butler, who was driving the car, suffered minor injuries. She told police the unknown driver stopped and spoke briefly with her before he drove off. The man suspected in the hit-and-run crash is described as white, in his mid-20s with a slender build, and short and dark curly hair.He was wearing a black leather jacket, and a white woman with blonde hair was a passenger in the suspect's vehicle.Police noted they recovered a piece of the grill from the front of the suspect's vehicle, damaged in the crash. The grill piece matches that of one from a 1999 Olds Cutlass.Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call township police at 724-285-9600.Sunday - Two teenagers were arrested for shoplifting in separate theft cases at Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Stephen Fulmer, 19, of Butler and Justin Enslen, 18, of Renfrew are charged with retail theft.4:14 p.m. Friday - Joshua Gilliland, 19, of Butler was charged with retail theft for allegedly switching price tags on merchandise at Trader Horn.
Saturday - Jewelry and other items were taken in a burglary at the East Beaver Street home of Larry and Sherry Kruger.The couple was out for the evening and when they returned home they discovered a door, secured by a deadbolt lock, had been forced open. Evidence suggests more than one person was involved in the burglary.4:34 p.m. April 17 - Harry Cairns, 33, of Aliquippa, Beaver County, was arrested for driving under the influence on South Main Street.
5:39 p.m. Monday - Cynthia Kamga, 21, of Monroeville, Allegheny County, swerved her car to avoid a truck on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township, and collided with scaffolding used for a construction project at the Rowan Road overpass.No workers were on the scaffolding and Kamga suffered only minor injuries. Police said Nickolas Saylor, 19, of Stoneboro, Mercer County, was driving the truck.Saturday - A small amount of coins were taken between 2 and 5 a.m. from an unlocked car on Freeport Road in Summit Township. Virginia Zimmerman of Butler owns the car.6:21 p.m. April 1 - Darlene Whitmire, 50, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence at Barracks Drive and Route 356 in Butler Township. She is also charged with careless driving.
11:35 p.m. Sunday - David John Pringle, 43, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Springfield Church Road in Findley Township, Mercer County.4:40 p.m. April 18 - A car driven by Diana Eperthener, no age given, of Mercer and a sport utility vehicle driven by Rhonda McClelland, no age given, of Grove City collided at Route 298 and George Junior Road in Pine Township, Mercer County.Both drivers and a passenger in the SUV, a Grove City girl whom police did not identify, all suffered minor injuries.
