Growth was the theme in 2013 for Flynn’s Tire Group.

Many new projects were completed in preparation for the celebration of 50 years in operation as a family owned tire dealer. These projects also ensure a solid foundation for future growth.

Major interior remodeling was completed at the Meadville and Carnegie retail locations.

These projects consisted of upgrading the sales counter and customer lounge. Stand-alone sales pods and new computer terminals were added to allow for more efficient customer service. New tables and chairs and a coffee bar complete the new look.

In November, a new retail location was acquired in the Pittsburgh area. This newest Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service is at 281 Church Road, Wexford. The addition of this store brought the total retail stores to 19.

Flynn’s Tire Wholesale also opened a new 60,000-square-foot warehouse in Carnegie. This larger and more modern facility allows for an increase of over twice the tire inventory space from its previous location.

A sales and service facility for Flynn’s Commercial Tire also was created at the same complex as the new warehouse in Carnegie and a new Commercial Tire annex was created near Rochester, N.Y. These two new facilities greatly expanded the service area provided by the Commercial Division.

A wheel reconditioning plant also was added in Dover, Ohio, at the beginning of the year.

One of the most significant changes occurred in July 2013 when the corporate offices were relocated. They moved from the Mercer retail location, where they had been since 1966, to 2908 Mercer-West Middlesex Road, West Middlesex, which once was the Dow Jones/Wall Street Journal printing plant.

Joe Flynn III, president of Flynn’s Tire Group, said, “We recognize the need to build a strong infrastructure to support future growth in all of our divisions. Much of the growth we have experienced in 2013 propels us into 2014, which happens to be our 50th anniversary.”

Flynn’s Tire Group consists of: 19 Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service retail locations in Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio, four Flynn’s Tire Wholesale warehouses, four Flynn’s Commercial Tire locations, one Flynn’s Retread plant for commercial truck tires, and a wheel reconditioning plant for truck wheels. Flynn’s was first established in September of 1964 on Sharpsville Avenue in Sharon.
